My First Blackwork

The history of blackwork dates back to at least the 1300s, and perhaps earlier still. In medieval times, blackwork was used to decorate the borders of garments. It gave the look of lace, and was reversible, so it worked well on the borders of sleeves and collars.

Seeing all those nice and beautiful chart of blackwork make me itch to try out one. Guess what .. here is my first blackwork and cool ha ... The blackwork grapes chart was created by Jan Eaton for Tom Pudding Design. I finished it into a card and send it to Niza as a birthday card.
